Welcome to Gemma Barrett's online portfolio website
Based in Godshill on the Isle of Wight, I have
experience in
both freelance and full-time employment as a Graphic Designer. My
designs are simple and creative and I use humour and originality in my designs to make them
memorable. I have wide-ranging and constantly evolving skills and a variety of printed graphic
design projects such as menu, stationary and logo design. Recently I was commissioned to produce illustrations and I have also been developing my photo-manipulation abilities and studying web design with the Open University.

Client: Down Periscope
Project: Logo and stationary design
Design process: As a new company specialising in underwater surveying and maintenance, they wanted a logo and stationary design. I indicated the company's underwater working environment by combining the company name in blue with a diver's helmet and accompanying bubbles.

Project: Invitation design
Design process: The idea behind this design is simple; as the 'curtain up' wasn't until 7.30pm on the Gala Night, it seemed obvious the background should be an unraised curtain and the text should be shown in the spotlight shining on it.
